Who's that? I'm not sure but Julian certainly wrote a cool tune released in lovely 1984.

I've always been a big fan of this under played and enigmatic tune. It's actually the last track off Reckoning. Let's party.

'Free My Mind' by Katie Herzig

Katie Herzig remind me of an American Lily Allen. Katie's probably not going to like that but I thinks it's a compliment.

Anyway, I heard this song in a women's clothing store and was instantly attracted to the melody.

'Tongue Tied' by GROUPLOVE

OK, I poached this one off TV but that doesn't take away from its coolness. Good video too.

'Green Eyes' by Coldplay

This one is special and sometimes make me tear. Dedicated to my girl.

'Under the Milky Way' by The Church

Can't have an alternative site without some Church. This tune is mellow and a good way to end the week.

'Groove is in the Heart' by Deee-Lite

Don't know if this is considered alternative but I just did. Good one for Friday.

'I Touch Roses' by Book of Love

This one brings back good memories of dancing in school and not caring about tomorrow. Love it.

'Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps' by Cake

This tune has a simple and carefree melody that seems to stick with you throughout the day.

'Living In Oblivion' by Anything Box

Another one by Anything Box, probably their most popular. Very alternative and poppy. Let's drink.

'If You Leave' by OMD

You might recognize this one from the Pretty in Pink movie. It would probably rank as their most popular song.

'I Still Believe' by The Call

I've said it once and I'll say it again, the lead singer has one of the best voices. RIP Michael Been.

Anyway, love this classic - let's get back to basics.

'Our House' by Madness

What's an alternative site without some ska - from England no doubt? This stuff was very popular in the 80's: both Madness and UB40 spent 214 weeks on the UK singles charts over the course of the decade, holding the record for most weeks spent by a group in the 1980s UK singles charts.

'I Melt With You' by Modern English

Another great alternative tune by an English band. This song is off of the album After the Snow which is excellent. I will post more in time, my friends.

'Forever Live and Die' by OMD

I find this song very romantic and it warms my heart to hear. Don't think the video does it justice tho - wish they would have called me up to direct it.

'Dogs of Lust' by The The

Interesting band originating from England with a slew of turnover around the only constant member Matt Johnson. Some are notable such as Johnny Marr guitarist from The Smiths.

Enough rambling, I love the intensity of this tune. There's also rated R version of the video but I couldn't find it :(

'Too Shy' by Kajagoogoo

I don't think there's anything I can really say about this quintessential alternative 80's gem - other than I love it and should have posted long ago.

'Master & Servant Cover' by Locust

The cover came from a DM tribute album by various artists (including The Cure, Meat Beat Manifesto, Smashing Pumpkins to name a few) called For the Masses in 1998. The CD has some other great songs besides the post below.

This one is sooo smooth and sexy. It's been in my head all day - had to share . . .

'Close to Me' by The Cure

Even without the proper video, had to post this classic by Sussex, England's best. Enjoy and feel your youth.

We all remember the cool video of the armoire falling into the ocean with the band playing. If I can find, I will re-post.

Although I'm still trying to get into the new album, this tune seems kickin'. Posted tonight in honor of The Sounds in concert at Masquerade. See you there, baby.

'Rush' by Big Audio Dynamite

Very cool band let by former Clash front man Mick Jones. Also, very fun to see live as the show stays hopping beginning to end with recorded dance music played between songs.

Man, this one has all the makings of a classic off their new album. On the CD, the tune changes tempo - I love that, especially when things keep getting better.

Unfortunately, the embedded sound track is a remix which doesn't do it justice. If I can find the original I will gladly re-post.
