My formative years were spent in the 80's with foundational bands like New Order, Depeche Mode, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Cure, and Jane's Addiction. Even though the 80's was the pioneer decade for the alternative genre, this music transcended into the 90's and to some cool tunes today which could be classified as alternative. Hopefully, this site will bring back some good memories and introduce some things you haven't heard before.

Feedback and suggestions are welcome.

Enjoy.

'End to the Lies' by Jane's Addiction

<!--[if gte mso 9]> Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE

Album: The Great Escape Artist

Released: 2011
Theme: alternative rock

Jane's has done it again - this time with a slow rhythmic tune with a very sexy video to match. Actually, don't watch if you're under 18.

Brand new off their new album brought to you by SoDA tonight.

'Summertime Rolls' by Janes Addiction

Album: Nothing's Shocking
Released: 1988
Theme: alternative rock

A deliberate post today for the main mother in my life; not because the song has any particular ties to motherhood but because of the close ups of Dave Navarro. Need I say more?? Dedicated to Suz and all the great mothers out there.

I like too as it is surreal and brings up a flood of crazy memories.

'Of Course' by Jane's Addiction

Album: Ritual de lo Habitual
Released: 1991
Theme: alternative rock

I like Jane's because they sound so distinctive. This song is way off the beaten path and seems apropos to post. I've seen them live several times and they've never played 'Of Course'. The video is a live version and doesn't do it exact justice but you get the idea.

One more thing, if there's one person I'd like to hang out and party with, it would be lead singer Perry Farrell. So Perry, if you happen to be on the site, leave your phone number. Cool.

'Ocean Size' by Jane's Addiction

Album: Nothing Shocking

Released: 1988
Theme: alternative rock

This tune seems to announce Jane's Addiction to the world on their debut studio album. I think it captures Jane's power. If I were boxer, this would be played during my walk to the ring.
