My formative years were spent in the 80's with foundational bands like New Order, Depeche Mode, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Cure, and Jane's Addiction. Even though the 80's was the pioneer decade for the alternative genre, this music transcended into the 90's and to some cool tunes today which could be classified as alternative. Hopefully, this site will bring back some good memories and introduce some things you haven't heard before.

Feedback and suggestions are welcome.

Enjoy.

Album: The Great Escape Artist

Released: 2011
Theme: alternative rock

Jane's has done it again - this time with a slow rhythmic tune with a very sexy video to match. Actually, don't watch if you're under 18.

Brand new off their new album brought to you by SoDA tonight.

'Stripper' by Lords of Acid

Album: Farstucker

Released: 2000
Theme: chamber

LOA opened up with this one last month at in ATL and it more than warmed up the crowd. I am somewhat new to the album and was pleased and was gyrating.

I really like the syncopated beat which is always sexy coming from this band. It would make an excellent pole dance song and if you use, please invite me to the show . . .

'C. Sex' by Renegade Soundwave

Album: Soundclash

Released: 1987
Theme: club

In one of my first club experiences, this song was playing and I thought it was the coolest thing I ever heard.

It's the backbone of this enigmatic band and a little evil. I love it and always will.

Let's all rock.

'The Whole of the Moon' by The Waterboys

Album: This Is the Sea

Released: 1985
Theme: celtic flow

I thought it would be appropriate to post this band on St. Patrick's Day. However, the band is really composed of an eclectic group of backgrounds: mainly of musicians from Scotland, Ireland and England.

Anyway, the tune takes me back to the homeland upon listening. Enjoy with your green beer.

This song was written by my son, Nick. Recently, he's recorded a couple of tunes, and wishes to release a collection of songs on April Fool's Day. Provide feedback!

This one, "Technology Needs Me" was written about technology addiction, and how Nick needs it to communicate with his friends in Germany.

'Special Moments' by Lords of Acid

Album: Voodoo-U

Released: 1994
Theme: chamber

There's few things better than the big beat of this tune.

Reminds me of fasching in Munich.
