Album: Torches
Released: 2011
Theme: alternative funk
Don't really know how to explain this one by LA's Foster the People. You'll have to listen for yourself.
Anyway, the show looks fun and I wish I was there. But I am there, at the Masquerade tonight.
Album: In Ghost Colours
Released: 2008
Theme: alternative electronica
Fresh music from this Australian band formed in 2001. A friend asked me today if I've posted anything by Cut Copy and I thought I had - but that's not the case . . . until now.
These guys have an 80's feel that's very smooth yet funky. More to come.
Album: 4x4=12
Released: 2010
Theme: wave
I've already posted this tune once but this live version rocks and so does the singer.
I usually say something like 'wish I was there' but I am there . . . at The Tabernacle as you read this.
Album: Sidewalks
Released: 2010
Theme: alternative funk
Another one by Matt & Kim - it has a great beat and great video to go along. It looks like they like to have fun in NYC but keeping their clothes on this time.
Give it up for Eli, my Matt & Kim hookup.
Album: Wild!
Released: 1989
Theme: quintessential 80's
The video - not my favorite; the song - one of my favorites. It's complex and intense; takes you for a ride and embodies Erasure.
In keeping with the theme started Sunday, it doesn't get much more quintessential alternative 80's than this.
Posted in honor of Erasure in concert this Saturday ATL, baby!
