My formative years were spent in the 80's with foundational bands like New Order, Depeche Mode, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Cure, and Jane's Addiction. Even though the 80's was the pioneer decade for the alternative genre, this music transcended into the 90's and to some cool tunes today which could be classified as alternative. Hopefully, this site will bring back some good memories and introduce some things you haven't heard before.

Feedback and suggestions are welcome.

Enjoy.

'Shell Shock' by New Order

Album: Substance
Released: 1987
Theme: magical 80's

The song was actually released as a single in 1986 and appeared in the movie Pretty in Pink. And although I don't have the factual confirmation, it seems was the most commercially successful in the States.

Substance is a 2 disc compilation album which I would rank as an absolute must have.

'Beatbox' by The Sounds

Album: Crossing The Rubicon
Released: 2009
Theme: alternative rock

This was originally my favorite tune on the album, but I have grown to like others which have been posted on SoDA. It's still good, though.

Cool video and cool sound.
