My formative years were spent in the 80's with foundational bands like New Order, Depeche Mode, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Cure, and Jane's Addiction. Even though the 80's was the pioneer decade for the alternative genre, this music transcended into the 90's and to some cool tunes today which could be classified as alternative. Hopefully, this site will bring back some good memories and introduce some things you haven't heard before.

Feedback and suggestions are welcome.

Enjoy.

'Let Your Body Learn' by Nitzer Ebb

Album: That Total Age
Released: 1987
Theme: industrial

This has kinda turned into a Nitzer Ebb week. 'Let Your Body Learn' knocked me over when I first heard - and then Nitzer Ebb was born, at least to me. What a great club sound.

'Fun To Be Had' by Nitzer Ebb

Album: Showtime
Released: 1990
Theme: industrial

Interesting, with a name like Nitzer Ebb you'd think they'd be from Germany. They're actually a British group formed in 1982.

This is a deeper cut and is my favorite off the album. It just goes to show, you can find just about anything you want on YouTube.

'Something in My House' by Dead or Alive

Album: Mad, Bad, and Dangerous to Know

Released: 1987
Theme: dance

Cool, a good tune by the band and it's not on Youthquake album.

Interesting info on the lead singer, Pete Burns who is extremely, hmmm, flamboyant a la Boy George, was married for 28 years until his divorce in 2006. It would be prudent to say he was bisexual as well.

In the end, none of that matters. This is a cool tune.

'All Over' by Nitzer Ebb

I love this funky sound. Reminds me of waiting to get into CPA in Tallahassee back in the day.

'The Fear' by Lily Allen

Album: The Fear
Released: 2009
Theme: alternative pop

This is another song I heard and instantly liked. It has a touch of that 80's magic too.
