My formative years were spent in the 80's with foundational bands like New Order, Depeche Mode, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Cure, and Jane's Addiction. Even though the 80's was the pioneer decade for the alternative genre, this music transcended into the 90's and to some cool tunes today which could be classified as alternative. Hopefully, this site will bring back some good memories and introduce some things you haven't heard before.

Feedback and suggestions are welcome.

Enjoy.

'Rocket' by Smashing Pumpkins

Album: Siamese Dream
Released: 1993
Theme: alternative rock

OK I lied, this could be my favorite track by the band.

When I listen to I think of lifting my arms like I'm summoning the gods of 'stuff that sounds good' and I pay homage. Shake your head with me and become entranced.

Enjoy on YouTube

'True Faith' by New Order

Album: Substance

Back to our Foundation. Good song but it brings back bad memories of my one and only line dance performance.

Cool video though.

'Lover Come Back To Me' by Dead or Alive

Album: Youthquake

Released: 1985
Theme: dance

This group is better known for 'You Spin Me Round' which is also off this album. I think I'll post that one in time because it's fun but this one is different and I like different.

All in all, Youthquake is a good party album. Reminds me of dancing with myself in high school. Hey, nothing wrong with that . . .
