My formative years were spent in the 80's with foundational bands like New Order, Depeche Mode, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Cure, and Jane's Addiction. Even though the 80's was the pioneer decade for the alternative genre, this music transcended into the 90's and to some cool tunes today which could be classified as alternative. Hopefully, this site will bring back some good memories and introduce some things you haven't heard before.

Feedback and suggestions are welcome.

Enjoy.

'November Spawned a Monster' by Morrissey

M post #7:  not the last post ever but a good way to end out a week for the one and only Morrissey.  And a good way to start February, yes?

I guess the song is about the plight of the disabled.  The video is weird - hard to describe is the best way to describe it . . .

'Last of the Famous International Playboys' by Morrissey

M post #6:  ohhh, one of my true favorites by Morrissey or Smiths.  The tune references both Reggie and Ronnie Kray, of the Kray twins.  Don't know much about them except that they were a notorious pair of vicious London gangsters in the 60's.  I think Morrissey idolized these guys for some reason.

Oddly enough, another British alternative band, Renegade Soundwave, also sings about Kray twins.

'Tomorrow' by Morrissey

M post #6:  this is one of my favs and appropriately posted today because Morrissey's show was scheduled for Tomorrow (some sort of bladder infection).  I'm not losing faith and will again frantically search for tix once rescheduled.

Anyway, enjoy this classic today . . .

'Suedehead' by Morrissey

M post #4:  Suedehead - the debut single release by Morrissey and his highest ranking song.

Ok, time to kick it up with a true classic.  Interesting video with him walking in a small town in Indiana which happens to be James Dean's home town.

'I Like You' by Morrissey

M post #3:  dedicated to the terminator, lovely and smooth.

This is why I like you, because you're not right in the head.

'Glamorous Glue' by Morrissey

M post #2:  Glamorous Glue, a rowdy one and good for Sat night.  Release in 1992 which is relatively early for his reign of terror.

Enjoy with your favorite beverage turned up loud.
