My formative years were spent in the 80's with foundational bands like New Order, Depeche Mode, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Cure, and Jane's Addiction. Even though the 80's was the pioneer decade for the alternative genre, this music transcended into the 90's and to some cool tunes today which could be classified as alternative. Hopefully, this site will bring back some good memories and introduce some things you haven't heard before.

Feedback and suggestions are welcome.

Enjoy.

'Drama' by Erasure

Album: Wild!

Released: 1989
Theme: quintessential 80's

The video - not my favorite; the song - one of my favorites. It's complex and intense; takes you for a ride and embodies Erasure.

In keeping with the theme started Sunday, it doesn't get much more quintessential alternative 80's than this.

Posted in honor of Erasure in concert this Saturday ATL, baby!

'More Than This' by Roxy Music

Album: Avalon

Released: 1982
Theme: quintessential 80's

Roxy Music was formed in 1970 by none other than legend Bryan Ferry. I don't own a lot of their music but I should.

This tune, like many others, is smooth and cool and I like that. This is true quintessential early 80's - a great one to end the long week.
