My formative years were spent in the 80's with foundational bands like New Order, Depeche Mode, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Cure, and Jane's Addiction. Even though the 80's was the pioneer decade for the alternative genre, this music transcended into the 90's and to some cool tunes today which could be classified as alternative. Hopefully, this site will bring back some good memories and introduce some things you haven't heard before.

Feedback and suggestions are welcome.

Enjoy.

'Blowing Up Your Mind' by Lords of Acid

Album: Voodoo-U

Released: 1994
Theme: chamber

This is the 2nd studio album by the Belgian band with an interesting orgy cover.

The tune featured here is the last on the album and is slower, more melodic.

Let's hear more from this band to usher them in concert soon to the ATL.

'LSF' by Kasabian

Album: Kasabian

I like the fresh, new sound from the British band. They would be good to see in concert.

Dedicated to Eli who thinks in SoDA.

'Bela Lugosi's Dead' by Bauhaus

Album: Bela Lugosi's Dead - single

Released: 1979
Theme: gothic 80's

This was the band's first single and even though it wasn't written in the 80's, it certainly has that feel.

The best thing about this band is that it birthed Love & Rockets; Peter Murphy also began his solo career after the demise of Bauhaus which also wasn't bad thing.

Anyway, the song has a eerie sound and when combined with a rhythmic beat, good things happen.

'Scream' by Kelis

Album: Flesh Tone

Released: 2010
Theme: club

Kelis is an odd thing to post on an alternative music site. However, it's sounds good and that's all that matters.

I so love that club beat - wait for it . . .
