My formative years were spent in the 80's with foundational bands like New Order, Depeche Mode, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Cure, and Jane's Addiction. Even though the 80's was the pioneer decade for the alternative genre, this music transcended into the 90's and to some cool tunes today which could be classified as alternative. Hopefully, this site will bring back some good memories and introduce some things you haven't heard before.

'Exploding Boy' by The Cure

Album: Standing on a Beach
Released: 1986
Theme: quintessential 80's

Standing on a Beach is a compilation album by The Cure which is a great, must have in your collection. As a kid before the invention of CDs, I was lucky enough to own the cassette format. Lucky because on Side 2, the b-sides, there are 2 back to back tunes that are pearls in the rough (I referenced on the 5/6 post).

'Exploding Boy' is number one and we'll see if I can come through with the second . . .

I've been looking for something on YouTube and finally freakin' found.
