'Primary' by The Cure

'Primary' is one of my favorites by The Cure and it's as good as any to debut this band on SoDA. I was introduced to the tune from a singles compilation called Standing on a Beach or Staring at the Sea (CD format) released in 1986 and should be primary album in your 80's collection.

This song shows the intense side of The Cure.

'Hit the Heartbrakes' by The Black Kids

This is a new band out of Jacksonville, FL which has been featured on the late night talk shows recently. This track has a surreal quality and I like that. Check out the album and look out for a new one soon.

'Dancing with Tears in My Eyes' by Ultravox

Album: The Collection

Midge Ure, lead singer, can bring it with Ultravox. The Collection is a compilation album which should be in everyone's collection. I will eventually post other songs from Ultravox. This one makes me feel good.

'Stop Me' by The Smiths

Album: Strangeways, Here We Come
Released: 1987
Theme: quintessential 80's

Strange that this is the 1st Smiths album I got into and it was their last studio album. The Smiths are big favorites of mine which carried over to Morrissey's career. Anyway, 'Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before' is the backbone of Strangeways.

'Ocean Size' by Jane's Addiction

This tune seems to announce Jane's Addiction to the world on their debut studio album. I think it captures Jane's power. If I were boxer, this would be played during my walk to the ring.
