My formative years were spent in the 80's with foundational bands like New Order, Depeche Mode, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Cure, and Jane's Addiction. Even though the 80's was the pioneer decade for the alternative genre, this music transcended into the 90's and to some cool tunes today which could be classified as alternative. Hopefully, this site will bring back some good memories and introduce some things you haven't heard before.

Feedback and suggestions are welcome.

Enjoy.

'The Reflex' by Duran Duran

Album: Seven and the Ragged Tiger
Released: 1983
Theme: quintessential 80's

These guys were so popular back in the day that it turned me off. I made up for lost time as I got older. This is one of my favorites and makes me feel good to listen to. Luckily they are still touring since I've never seen. My claim to fame with Duran Duran - I have a friend who hooked up with lead singer Simon Le Bon.

  1. A good one -> "Girls on Film" is SoDA-worthy, too.

I've been listening to MGMT (Oracular Spectacular) recently. Could be some SoDA material here (Kids?).
