My formative years were spent in the 80's with foundational bands like New Order, Depeche Mode, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Cure, and Jane's Addiction. Even though the 80's was the pioneer decade for the alternative genre, this music transcended into the 90's and to some cool tunes today which could be classified as alternative. Hopefully, this site will bring back some good memories and introduce some things you haven't heard before.

Feedback and suggestions are welcome.

Enjoy.

'Your Silent Face' by New Order

Album: Power, Corruption & Lies
Released: 1983
Theme: dreamy

This one is close to my heart, and I don't know why. It seems like something you'd play after breaking up with a long time lover . . .

Let's start the week slow and deliberate.

  1. Good choice, Doug. This is one of my very favorite songs (New Order or otherwise). Obvious New Order instrumentation but with a unique sentimentality (simultaneously morose but acquiescent). Hey, the video even includes images of Moraine Lake (near Banff, Alberta, CA), one of the most beautiful places I've had the opportunity to visit!
