My formative years were spent in the 80's with foundational bands like New Order, Depeche Mode, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Cure, and Jane's Addiction. Even though the 80's was the pioneer decade for the alternative genre, this music transcended into the 90's and to some cool tunes today which could be classified as alternative. Hopefully, this site will bring back some good memories and introduce some things you haven't heard before.

Feedback and suggestions are welcome.

Enjoy.

'Whisper to a Scream' by Icicle Works

Album: The Icicle Works
Released: 1984
Theme: quintessential 80's

This reminds me of hanging out with good friends and of good times; a good tune to have in your 80's repertoire.

  1. I always thought this was Big Country. I've always said, I don't know $#!+ about music.

I look forward to more posts.

  2. Hi Doug,
This is a good one (I would've started with this one before "The One Thing"). I read something interesting about this song today (in the Jan MOJO). This song didn't even crack the top 50 across the pond (whe re they are considered to be one-hit wonders in association with "Love is a Wonderful Colour")...
